Jeep Compass Review: A Cheap Reliable Car

 The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV. Coming in the Sport Edition (starting price around $18,000), North Edition (starting price around $21,000) or Limited Edition (starting price around ($24,000). This SUV is perfect for the owner who likes SUV's but doesn't like the hassle of trying to park a yacht of a car.

A few of the safety features that Jeep offers on their Compass's are;

• Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS)
• Electronic Stability Control (ECS)
• Advanced Multistage Air Bags
• Child Protection Door Locks
• Child Seat Anchor System
• Energy-Absorbing Steering Column
• Side Curtain Air Bags
• Tire Pressure Monitoring
• Key-less Entry
• ect.

You can purchase the Jeep Compass with or without 4X4, standard or automatic transmission, 2.0 or 2.4 litre engine. And can get anywhere between 29-42 MPG depending on the motor. My 2009 2.0 standard transmission Jeep Compass usually gets around 38 MPG.

So I realize that the exterior looks of this SUV are not for everyone. And it obviously doesn't have off-road skills of Jeeps Wrangler. But if you are looking for a brand new vehicle for a cheap price, thats easy to park, fun to drive, decent fuel mileage, with tons of options, then you might have to go drive a Jeep Compass.

My Personal Experience

As I had said earlier. I personally own a 2009 2.0L standard transmission (base model) Jeep Compass. And here is my experience with it thus far......

• Great Colour (Sunburst Orange Pearl)
• Cheap ($15,000 with only 34km I did not put on it)
• Around 38 MPG
• The standard transmission easily gives me enough power to pass on the highway
• Easy to park
• There is a blind spot while backing up. It mostly just took some getting used to to work around this.
• I haven't gotten stuck yet in snow or mud with my 2 wheel drive. (I live in the country)
• Some people call my car ugly. Like I said looks of the vehicle are a personal preference. And the sunburst orange pearl colour usually gives it some brownie points.
• I probably wouldn't be winning any races with my compass.

The Jeep Compass is an SUV I recommend to my friends and family. And honestly a few of them have bought one. With that being said go take one for a test drive!
